Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the JapMarg Android application or accessing the JapMarg website at www.japmarg.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use JapMarg. Your continued use of the app or website after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and JapMarg regarding your use of the service and supersede any prior agreements.

JapMarg is available to anyone who wants to use it for personal, spiritual, or devotional purposes. There are no geographic restrictions — we welcome devotees from anywhere in the world.

Age: The core counting features (naam jap counter, mala tracking) can be used by people of all ages without an account. Account registration — which enables Sangat groups, leaderboards, and cloud sync — requires you to be at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18, you should have parental permission before creating an account.

Purpose: JapMarg is designed exclusively for personal spiritual and devotional practice. Use of the app for any commercial purpose — including reselling access, embedding in commercial products, or building competing services — is not permitted without our written consent.

When you create a JapMarg account, you are responsible for:

• Accuracy — providing a valid phone number and keeping your display name respectful and appropriate for a spiritual community.
• Security — keeping your account secure. Do not share your OTP or account access with others.
• Activity — all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you personally performed it.

If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will help you secure your account as quickly as possible.

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by writing to us. Upon deletion, all your personal data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy.

JapMarg is built as a sacred tool. We ask that you use it in the spirit in which it was created. You agree not to:

• Use automated scripts, bots, macros, or any automated means to artificially inflate your jap count or mala count.
• Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the JapMarg app, server, or database.
• Exploit bugs or technical vulnerabilities to gain an unfair advantage — please report them to us instead at [email protected].
• Impersonate another person, spiritual leader, or organisation within the app.
• Use your display name, profile photo, or group name to post content that is abusive, offensive, disrespectful to any religion, or harmful to other users.
• Attempt to access another user's account or private data without authorisation.
• Use JapMarg in any way that violates applicable Indian law or the laws of your country of residence.
• Attempt to overload, attack, or disrupt JapMarg's servers or infrastructure.

JapMarg's community features — Sangat Groups and the Global Leaderboard — are built on trust. By participating in these features, you agree to:

• Honest counting — only counts generated through genuine, manual tapping in the app are eligible for the leaderboard. Manual diary entries are kept separate and do not affect the verified leaderboard.
• Respectful community conduct — treat all members of Sangat groups with kindness and respect, regardless of their count, faith tradition, or background.
• Group admin responsibilities — if you create a group, you are responsible for the conduct of your group and for ensuring members understand these Terms.

Visibility of your data in groups: When you join a Sangat group, your display name and daily/total jap count become visible to all members of that group. On the public leaderboard, your display name and rank are visible to all JapMarg users. You can adjust or withdraw from groups at any time through the app settings.

Moderation: We reserve the right to remove any user from the leaderboard or any group if we determine, in our sole discretion, that their activity violates the spirit or letter of these Terms. We will notify affected users where possible.

JapMarg's content: The JapMarg name, logo, app design, user interface, source code, and all original content created by the JapMarg team are the intellectual property of JapMarg. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of JapMarg without our explicit written permission.

Mantras and spiritual texts: The mantras featured in JapMarg — including Radha Naam, Hare Krishna Mahamantra, Om Namah Shivaya, Ram Naam, and others — are ancient sacred texts that belong to the spiritual commons of humanity. JapMarg does not claim ownership of any mantra, scripture, or religious text.

Your content: Your display name and profile photo remain yours. By uploading a profile photo, you grant JapMarg a limited, non-exclusive licence to display it within the app to you and members of your Sangat groups. We do not use your profile photo for any other purpose.

Feedback: If you share suggestions or ideas with us (via email or otherwise), you grant JapMarg the right to implement those ideas without obligation to you. We are grateful for every suggestion and credit our community for shaping the app.

JapMarg is a devotional tool that serves practitioners across multiple Hindu traditions and spiritual paths. We approach all traditions with deep respect.

Non-denominational use: While JapMarg's origins lie in Vaishnava Naam Jap practice, the app is open to and respectful of all spiritual traditions. We do not endorse, favour, or discriminate against any specific sampraday, sect, or spiritual organisation.

No religious advice: JapMarg is a counting tool. We do not provide religious guidance, spiritual counselling, or prescribe how you should practice. Consult your guru, teacher, or spiritual authority for guidance on your sadhana.

Respectful conduct: When using community features, you agree not to demean, mock, or disrespect any deity, mantra, spiritual tradition, or fellow devotee. JapMarg is a space of bhakti — devotion — and should be treated as such.

JapMarg is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including:

• Availability — we do not guarantee that JapMarg will be available 100% of the time. Maintenance, updates, or unforeseen technical issues may cause temporary interruptions.
• Accuracy of counts — while we take every measure to ensure counts are saved and synced accurately, we cannot guarantee against data loss caused by device failure, network issues, or force majeure events.
• Fitness for purpose — JapMarg is a counting tool. We make no claims about its spiritual efficacy, religious correctness, or suitability for any specific form of practice.
• Third-party services — we are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services such as Google Play or Firebase that JapMarg depends upon.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JapMarg and its team shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use JapMarg.
• Loss of data, including jap counts or mala records, due to technical failures, device issues, or circumstances beyond our control.
• Any harm arising from your reliance on JapMarg for spiritual, religious, or devotional commitments.
• The conduct of other users within Sangat groups or on the leaderboard.

Because JapMarg is a free service built as seva with no commercial revenue, our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed ₹0 (zero rupees) — the amount you paid to use it.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of certain warranties or liability. In such cases, the above limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by local law.

Your right to stop: You may stop using JapMarg at any time by simply uninstalling the app and/or deleting your account. There are no cancellation fees or obligations.

Our right to suspend: We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, without prior notice, if we determine that you have:

• Violated these Terms, particularly the Acceptable Use provisions in Section 4.
• Used automated tools to inflate your jap count or otherwise cheated the leaderboard.
• Harassed, abused, or harmed other members of the Sangat community.
• Engaged in any activity that we reasonably believe threatens the security or integrity of JapMarg.

In non-urgent cases, we will attempt to notify you by message before taking action and give you an opportunity to respond. In cases involving serious violations (bot usage, harassment), suspension may be immediate.

Effect of termination: Upon termination, your right to use JapMarg ceases immediately. All your data will be deleted from our servers within 30 days of account closure, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms as JapMarg evolves. When we do:

• The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
• For significant changes (such as new restrictions on use or new user obligations), we will notify you through an in-app notification at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
• For minor clarifications that do not materially affect your rights, we will update the page without a separate notification.

Your continued use of JapMarg after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance. If you disagree with any revision, you may delete your account before the new Terms take effect.

We will never introduce changes that retroactively punish users for prior behaviour that was acceptable under the Terms at the time.

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

If you are using JapMarg from outside India, you are responsible for compliance with your local laws. By using JapMarg, you consent to the jurisdiction described above for the resolution of any disputes.
